Last Friday evening's "Movie Night" went really well. While our feature presentation was being shown inside our gym, students hungrily consumed mass quantities of hot dogs, chips, and popcorn. And a good time was had by all.
Thank you parents! |

This Monday is the day in which we honor the memory of President George Washington. Our nation's first President, George Washington was born on February 22, 1732 and died on December 14, 1799. Given the chance to become King of the United States, Washington turned down the offer. For over 200 years, folks have said, "Washington is the father of our country." Instead of being called "Your Excellency," (as is the case with other world leaders at the time of George Washington) our President has always been simply addressed as "Mr. President" by the people. |
Last Friday, February 10th, Wilson's 7th and 8th grade basketball and 7th and 8th grade softball teams all won their games vs. Kennedy. The games were well-played by both schools' teams. |
In last Friday's contests with DeAnza Magnate School here on campus, both 7th and 8th grade basketball teams won their games. Both softball squads also won their games. And let's not forget the excellent performances by Wilson's Cheerleading Squad. There are NO games scheduled for this Friday, January 13th. |
Wilson's Students will be dismissed at 12:00 P.M. Our ASES Program earnestly welcomes all enrolled students who would like to participate in a full slate of activities lasting until 6:00 P.M. |
Wilson's Orchestra, Band, and Chorus did an outstanding job last evening. |
Standard time is in effect until Sunday, March 11, 2012.
Now it gets dark an hour earlier than it did just last week. All Warriors need to be extra-careful out there when heading home. |
In a hard-fought contest, the Wilson Staff's Volleyball Team lost to that of Kennedy.
We'll get 'em next time... Like at the upcoming tournament. |
All students and staff are invited to wear a costume on Halloween next Monday. A costume parade will be held in the gym at the end of the day. Prizes will be awarded for the best costumes.
Halloween costumes must be appropriate for school: they cannot be too revealing or too skimpy. Fake weapons are not allowed. If any students have questions about the appropriateness of their costume idea, see a teacher, or Mr. Hill or Mr. Phillips. Zombies are permitted, however the eating of human flesh while upon school grounds will not be tolerated. |
A new tradition began last Friday as parents and staff joined Principal Phillips for coffee and donuts. "Coffee with the Principal" is scheduled for the first Friday of each month. Join Principal Phillips for casual conversation and some morning treats.
The donuts were delicious, but some people were a little shy about having some. Next time, there might be some fruit and yogurt for our donut-averse friends. |
All Warriors are welcome to enjoy breakfast each school day. Also, be sure to check out our lunch menu. |
Wilson's after-school ASES Program will be in operation from 2:45 - 6:00 P.M. each school day (except the last day before Winter Vacation) until the first week of June. Students are encouraged to participate in a wide variety of educationally-fun activities at no cost to them. Parents should contact our office for further information: (760) 352-5341. |
Thank you Warriors for a smooth opening day last Monday. All of your teachers are looking forward to another successful year of teaching and learning! |
Thanks to all students who participated in this year's ASES activities. To those who are in seventh grade, we look forward to working with you next year; to those who are going on to high school: best wishes for an outstanding freshman year! |
There will be a football camp at the football field of Imperial High School this Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. If you are interested in attending, please see Mrs. Benavidez in the office for the registration form. Cost is $35 per player plus lunch is provided. Don't be left out! |
All students who are currently enrolled in our after school ASES program are invited to a free school dance (with a professional disk-jockey) this Friday. The dance will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 5:50 P.M. |
On Monday, March 14th, our orchestra will be playing for music aficionados of all ages at De Anza and Desert Garden schools. If you're the parent of a De Anza or Desert Garden student, please contact your child's school and get the performance times so you can see our talented musicians in action! |
Yesterday's low temperature (at Imperial's airport) was 24 degrees. It's been many, many, years since it was that cold around these parts! BRRR! |
Over the next few days, many students who are on the waiting list for ASES will begin receiving their schedules. It's going to take some time, because space is assigned on a "first-come, first served" basis and not many students have "dropped" from the program. |
Things are going much smoother in ASES. Students are learning and many, if not most, seem very satisfied with our after school program of learning and fun. Soon, we'll be enrolling students from our waiting list on a first-come-first-served basis.
Thank you Parents for you support! Thank you students for your participation! |
Today was the first day of our ASES Program. Even though there were a few "bumps in the road," all students and parents can rest assured that those students who need to get other classes will get the the classes that they want. We will work hard to improve our dismissal procedure. Meanwhile, we've planned something special for this Friday's nutrition break... |
We had an excellent turnout of parents at last evening's "ASES Parent Night." Thanks to all who came and to the many students who have now enrolled in our program of after school learning and fun. There are still a few places left for those students whose parents were unable to attend the meeting. Please drop by our office or call (760) 352-5341 for instructions in how to complete our easy enrollment process. |
Parents and guardians are invited to come to our office and enroll their child in our After School Education and Safety Program (ASES) anytime on or after Monday, January 3, 2011.

There will be two presentations: 5:00 - 6:00 P.M. and again from 6:00 - 7:00 P.M. |
Our annual Winter Mile Races are set to take place this Friday morning. Parents and guardians who are interested in rooting for their sons and daughters are invited to attend. Please telephone our office for additional information: (760) 352-5341. |
